What's New

Release notes and updates for SheetMatch.

v1.5

  • Introduced a clearer guided workflow: add the main table, add the lookup table, choose matching columns, then configure and create the result.
  • Placed file upload and table paste side by side, with sample data available for quickly trying the complete workflow.
  • Added five-row previews for uploaded, pasted, and sample tables, with Excel-style column letters and horizontal scrolling for wide tables.
  • Updated column selectors to show Excel-style labels such as A - Email and B - Order Date.
  • Added a Copy table action so matched results can be pasted directly into Excel, Google Sheets, or another spreadsheet tool.
  • Added a dedicated VLOOKUP with Multiple Criteria page with a two-column sample workflow, practical examples, and FAQs.
  • Simplified the homepage by revealing matching and output steps only after both tables have been added.

v1.4

  • Made paste table the primary way to add data on the homepage, with file upload still available as a secondary option.
  • Renamed the input areas to Main Table and Lookup Table so they fit both pasted tables and uploaded files.
  • Added paste-time protection for large tables: pasted data over 10MB or more than 50,000 rows is blocked before it enters the page.
  • Improved pasted table previews so the page only parses the first few rows for preview instead of parsing the full table immediately.
  • Added clearer guidance when pasted data is too large, with the same 10MB / 50,000-row limits used by uploaded files.
  • Cleaned up extra helper text in the upload area to keep the main workflow more focused.

v1.3

  • Added a step-by-step interactive demo on the homepage to show how SheetMatch uploads files, chooses matching columns, finds lookup data, and merges results.
  • Added a See demo button in the hero area so visitors can jump directly to the interactive walkthrough.
  • Added an Examples section with five practical scenarios that explain core features: basic matching, multi-column matching, left-side lookup, cleaning match keys, and duplicate match handling.
  • Updated example articles to feel more realistic with named roles and day-to-day spreadsheet workflows.
  • Refined homepage wording to make the main workflow easier to understand.
  • Added a feedback entry point and expanded language support across common locales.

v1.2

  • Added multi-column matching — compare two or more column pairs together before merging data.
  • Added duplicate lookup handling options: use first match, use last match, expand into multiple rows, or combine values into one cell.
  • Keep original main file exports now preserve the other sheets from the uploaded XLSX workbook.
  • Improved file replacement behavior so matching columns are refreshed correctly after changing files on the same page.
  • When creating a new file with match-column-only output, all selected main match columns are preserved.

v1.1

  • Added Step 5 output options: enrich the main file or create a new result file.
  • When creating a new file, choose to keep all main columns or only the match column plus lookup columns.
  • XLSX exports now use the main file's current sheet name instead of a generic tab name.
  • Column picker shows whether each lookup column is left or right of the match column (XLOOKUP-style).
  • Download filenames distinguish enriched main files (_matched_) from new lookup results (_lookup_).
  • Results summary now shows the selected output mode.

v1.01

  • Launched SheetMatch — a free VLOOKUP online tool to match two Excel or CSV files without writing formulas.
  • Upload files directly in the hero area and merge spreadsheets by a shared column in your browser.
  • Added multi-sheet support for XLSX workbooks — pick which sheet to use before matching.
  • Download matched results as XLSX or CSV, including unmatched rows.
  • All file processing runs locally in your browser — spreadsheets are never uploaded to our servers.
  • Added a simple browser-based workflow so users can match files without installing Excel or writing formulas.
